A BELGIAN man has been arrested for running over his girlfriend at a Costa Blanca campsite and then fleeing the scene.
The Guardia Civil confirmed that it was treating the hit-and-run incident as a case of gender violence.
The assault happened last Friday at a parking lot in the Palm-Mar campsite in Guardamar del Segura.

Reports suggest the couple had got into an argument and the man then ran her over before driving off.
An eyewitness reported that shouting between the two increased in intensity before the incident.
Despite initial suggestions that the victim suffered a broken leg, she was later discharged from hospital with no apparent serious injuries.
She was given initial on-site treatment by paramedics.
The man, 25, was driving a Belgian-plated Volkswagen Caddy van.
His partner told the Guardamar Policia Local that he escaped on the north-bound carriageway of the N-332.
Police forces from neighbouring areas were alerted and he was arrested by Santa Pola officers on the N-332 close to Gran Alacant.
Statements were collected from eye-witnesses at the Guardamar campsite
