POLICE dashed to rescue a young boy who clambered onto a balcony air conditioning unit on the 21st floor of a Benidorm skyscraper.
The child, 8, was all alone in the tourist apartment on Avenida Bilbao after his father went out to do some late-night shopping on Friday.
He was subsequently arrested for the temporary abandonment of child.

The father had Bulgarian documentation on him.
The incident happened shortly after 11pm after a neighbour spotted the boy sitting on the unit.
He contacted the apartment block’s caretaker and then the Benidorm Policia Local.
Due to the dark, officers could not immediately locate the apartment balcony where the boy was until the resident who called them allowed access to his property.
They spotted the boy who could have fallen 21 storeys to the ground.
Blocked by a locked front door, officers used the adjacent balcony to reach the child.
An officer reached out to hold the terrified boy with a fully extended arm while his colleague physically anchored him.
The caretaker supplied a master key to access the child’s apartment and the rescue was completed.
When the father returned to the building, he confirmed he had gone out shopping and was taken to the police station for interview.
He revealed that his son is on the autistic spectrum.
