TWO women died on Saturday in a flood and landslide caused by heavy rain in a Castilla y Leon region village.
Two babies were also injured according to authorities.
The disaster happened in Manzanedo de Valdueza, part of the Ponferrada municipality in the north-west of Spain.

Regional emergency services said that the ‘the deaths of two women, approximately 60 and 80 years old respectively, have been confirmed.”
They added that two babies had been treated for bruises, while a third person reported missing, a man in his 80s, “has been found unharmed”.
Emergency services were scrambled to the scene backed up a by a rescue helicopter.
A grey mass of stones and mud that had washed through the village and flattened a car.
Ponferrada mayor Marco Morala, said that ‘fierce storms in the hills triggered a large flow of stones, mud and sludge.’
The disaster had also caused material damage in the neighbouring village of Bouzas, Morala added.
The flood came after Spain has dealt with heatwave and wildfire incidents caused by record-breaking temperatures.
Castilla y Leon had some of Spain’s worst wildfires in 2025, a record year of hectares burned in the country, as recorded by the European Forest Fire Information System.
