A MAN has survived being stabbed near the heart inside an upmarket golf urbanisation in Estepona after police and paramedics carried out 90 minutes of CPR to save him.

Policia Nacional said it arrested a 52-year-old man, the victim’s housemate, over the attack, which happened shortly after 8pm on Monday, August 17.

The incident took place at a property in Vista Golf, part of the municipality’s Resinera-Voladilla district on Calle Juzcar.

A patrol reached the property within minutes of a call to Andalucia’s 112 emergency line reporting that the 37-year-old victim had been stabbed during a fight with his housemate, according to Malaga Hoy.

Officers handcuffed the alleged attacker while a colleague pressed on the wound near the victim’s heart, before paramedics arrived and police helped perform CPR that continued for 90 minutes as he went into cardiac arrest several times.

A second ambulance with specialised equipment was called in before he was finally stabilised and rushed to Malaga’s Regional Hospital given the severity of his injuries.

Investigators found the weapon, a kitchen knife around 12cm long, in the bathroom sink, and forensic officers were sent to examine the property.

Policia Nacional confirmed the investigation remains open and said no further details would be released for now.

The housemate remains in custody as investigators try to establish what triggered the attack.
