WHEN the phone rang on Saturday evening, Coline thought it was the hospital calling back.
She had given birth hours earlier and just returned home from the maternity ward.
Instead, it was Marblanc Solar ringing to tell the Guaro mother she had just won a complete solar installation worth €25,500.
“I just had a baby and I thought it was the doctor calling!” she said. “Too much good news for one day. Thank you so much.”
The Marbella- and Jávea-based installer launched the giveaway in July to mark Spain’s World Cup victory over Argentina, offering one homeowner on the Costa del Sol or Costa Blanca a full system with nothing to pay back.
Every homeowner who booked a free solar survey before 31st July was entered automatically.
Ticket 273
The draw took place at 7pm on Friday 15th August, streamed live on Marblanc Solar’s Facebook page so entrants could see the result for themselves.
Co-owners Roman Mitchell and Adam Millington used a virtual random number generator on camera, with no edits and no second attempt.
It returned 273.
“We deliberately did it live in one take because it’s important for everyone to see the giveaway is fair and completely random,” Roman Mitchell, CEO of Marblanc Solar, told the Olive Press.
“When the number came up and we tried calling, we were worried she wouldn’t pick up. She thought I was from the hospital and she’d had a baby that morning – you couldn’t script it.”
“It makes me really happy the winner is a new mum as the solar system will help the family save money and not worry about the cost of washing, cooling or heating as they raise their newborn.”

What the winner receives
The prize is a complete, fully installed system rather than a voucher or a discount.
It includes premium all-black solar panels, a 5kW Huawei inverter, full professional installation, registration, and three years of aftersales care.
The system is predicted to save €25,500 over its lifetime.
Adam Millington, co-owner and COO, said the system was chosen to suit any type of property.
“A 5kW Huawei inverter is the sweet spot for a house like hers – enough headroom for a growing family, and it leaves the door open for adding more panels later on,” Adam told the Olive Press.
“She’s got a newborn in the house so we’ll work around her. The install itself is a day on site, and then she goes into our two-week monitoring programme like every other client – we watch the data and tell her where the savings are hiding.”
The all-black panels produce slightly less per panel than standard modules but clients appreciate them for their aesthetics.
It comes after Marblanc Solar did a separate solar giveaway last year for a system worth €20,000.
Drawn from a new Marbella office
The draw was also the first event held at Marblanc Solar’s new premises at Urbanización Panorama 17, Marbella 29603.
The move follows a period of rapid growth for the company, as they went from a handful of proposals a month to more than 200 in a single month last year – a 3,200% increase.
Roman said that number has increased again to over 500 surveys in the past 30 days as Marblanc Solar continued its expansion to the Costa Blanca, Valencia, Murcia and Almeria.
The company is even selling systems as far as Barcelona and the northern coast of Spain.
“Two years ago we were working out of a van and a spare room,” Roman said.
“Doing the draw from our own office, with the team in the room, felt like the right way to open the doors.”
A 12.7kW donation to Freedom Farm
Marblanc Solar also used the livestream to announce a second, unadvertised gift.
The company will install a free 12.7kW solar system for the Freedom Farm animal shelter and rehabilitation centre on the Costa del Sol.
“Freedom Farm runs on donations, and electricity is one of those bills that just keeps climbing whether you can afford it or not,” Roman said.
“A 12.7kW system takes that pressure off permanently. Every euro they’re not handing to the electricity company goes back into the work they actually do.”
“We’ve been very lucky this year. It felt wrong to celebrate that on our own.”
Adam added: “The lads are all for it. It’s the sort of job you’re glad to be on.”
Another giveaway on the way
Roman confirmed the company intends to run a further giveaway before the end of the year, with details to be announced on its Facebook page.
In the meantime, Marblanc Solar’s Free Solar Survey remains available at no cost to homeowners across the Costa del Sol and the Costa Blanca.
The survey includes a site visit, a drone roof inspection, a shading analysis and a live presentation of several custom proposals, each with production estimates, savings, payback period and an itemised quote.
There is no obligation to buy, and surveys can be carried out virtually for owners who are not currently in Spain.
