Landmark euthanasia bill in Andalucia

ANDALUCIA has passed a landmark ruling allowing euthanasia.

The historical legislation – the first to be approved in Spain – obtained cross party support in Sevilla.

Called the Law Guaranteeing the Right to a Dignified Death, it allows the patient to refuse treatment which will artificially prolong his or her life.

Public and private doctors and even those in religious clinics will no longer be required to provide life-extending treatment.

Despite supporting the overall bill, the Partido Popular voted against three articles.
