AROUND one million ‘Erasmus babies’ have been born since the European study programme started in 1987.

Of students who take a year abroad with the organisation, 27% hook up with their long-term partner while doing so, according to the European Commision.

At the same time, 33% of former Erasmus students have a partner of a different nationally, compared with just 13% for stay-at-homes.
