BRITS on Benidorm beaches are hesitating to stick their toes in the water following a surprise ‘shark’ attack.

A 10-year-old boy was playing just metres off the popular Poniente Beach when a seven-foot-long creature, reported to be a shark, bit his torso.

The Costa Blanca resort’s beaches were evacuated and a photo of the boy’s injury was sent to Valencian marine experts to determine the species of the fish.

This incident follows shark sightings in Fuengirola, Cadiz and Cataluyna.
