BELGIAN cyclist Kris Boeckmans has been left in an induced coma after crashing at the Vuelta a Espana.
The Lotto-Soudal rider was put into a medically induced coma after suffering facial fractures and concussion at stage eighth stage of the race.
Boeckmans, 28, was one of five riders who have resigned after the crash which took place with 50km left of the stage.
Esteban Chaves still leads the field with Chris Froome 33 seconds back in 26th place.
