THE Gibraltar Music Festival will go head-to-head with Spain’s Benicassim festival at this year’s UK Music Festival Awards.

In the running to win Best Overseas Festival, other European festivals nominated are Electric Picnic (Ireland), NOS (Portugal) and Lollapolooza (Germany).

Nominated after hosting its biggest ever lineup, star acts at the two-day September festival included Kings of Leon, Paloma Faith and Kaiser Chiefs.

“We are really pleased to be in the running,” a GMF spokesperson said.

“A nomination for this award shows we are turning heads in the live music industry as well as keeping our ticket buyers happy.”
