AN agreement to raise the minimum wage next year is likely to take place tonight (Tuesday) at 5pm.
The meeting between the Minister of Employment, union bosses and industry professionals is expected to increase payment by 4%.
If confirmed, the Minimum Interprofessional Wage (SMI) would go from the current 707.6 euros to 735.9 euros.
Figures of a 6% increase for 2019 and 10% for 2020 will also be reviewed.
The Trade Union Confederation of Workers’ Commissions (CCOO) has reiterated the need for “significant increases” of the SMI, and have denounced that the Spanish SMI is the fourth smallest within the EU.
