REAL Madrid midfielder Luka Modric has appeared in court as part of a tax fraud case in Madrid.
He is accused of defrauding the tax authorities of €870,728 in 2013 and 2014.
This comes after it was reported Modric had already paid the authorities €1 million to reach a settlement, despite denying any wrongdoing.
Court and tax officials say they cannot confirm or deny the payment and details of his court appearance have not been released.
He has been playing for Madrid since being signed from Tottenham in 2012.
