EXPATS and locals have been warned of ‘aggressive’ and ‘fearless’ wild boars roaming around an upmarket urbanisation on the Costa del Sol.

The wild pigs are said to be on the loose in the Los Arqueros area with community management warning residents to ‘keep away’.

In an email seen by the Olive Press, residents are being warned that the pigs mostly prowl at night and that dog walkers should be extra vigilant.

“I wish to bring to your URGENT attention (again) that the Wild Boar are still at large within Los Arqueros and could be a potential danger as they can be aggressive,” the email reads.

“Please take extra care when walking with DOGS.

“We would ask that you are very careful especially at night and that if you encounter any of these animals, to please move as far away from them as possible.”

The email also advised neighbours not to leave rubbish lying anywhere, before saying the pigs were ‘not afraid of humans.’

“Please note that these animals have been sighted around and WITHIN the Community of LOS ALMENDROS,” the warning reads.

“So please take extra precaution in these areas and never approach the animals as they are not afraid of humans!”

Authorities are working to remove the animals but they are a protected species, making it a complicated task.
