A BABY died two days after his 20-year-old father allegedly smashed its head against the bars of his cot at their Valencian Community home.

The ten-month-old boy was admitted to Castellón General Hospital after the attack in Almassora on Sunday(September 13, but passed away this Tuesday morning.

A court remanded the father into custody and the 17-year-old mother is being held at a juvenile detention centre.

The parents took the baby to a health centre on Sunday afternoon and he was transferred to hospital.

His mother and father alleged that the head injuries had been caused by the baby falling out of the crib.

An examination from paediatricians reached the conclusion that the injuries were not accidental.
