Fresh COVID-19 cases continue to spiral despite marginal drop across Spain’s Valencian Community

Weekend Covid 19 New Case Figures Stabilise Across Spain  S Costa Blanca

NEW COVID-19 cases in the Valencian Community showed a slight fall in the latest report published on Thursday evening(October 29).

1,529 infections were logged in the region compared to 1,606 on Wednesday.

Alicante Province, which includes the Costa Blanca, reported 642 new positives, compared to 587 a day earlier.

A further 14 people have died from COVID-19 in the Valencian Community, three of those being in Alicante Province.

371 cases have been hospitalised in Alicante Province, with 70 people receiving intensive care.

57 outbreaks were reported across the Community, which include five in the Elche area caused by socialising.

Other outbreaks have been declared in  Elda, Calpe, Castalla, Javea, Benilloba, Guardamar, Onil, Crevillente, Sant Joan, Santa Pola and Alicante City.

The Valencian Community closes its borders to other regions from noon today(October 30) for at least a week.

23 Costa Blanca municipalities will join Elche and Orihuela from midnight in having two weeks of extra measures to curb the spread of the coronavirus.
