Hospitals are filling up as COVID-19 cases accelerate across Spain’s Valencian Community

Weekend Covid 19 New Case Figures Stabilise Across Spain  S Costa Blanca

DEATH rates and hospitalisations are continuing to climb in the latest COVID-19 figures released for the Valencian Community.

505 new infections and 18 deaths have been confirmed on Monday night(November 2) in the first regional update since Saturday morning.

The Monday figures are always lower than other reporting days due to fewer details being filed over the weekend,

Alicante Province has 147 new cases with three deaths.

Hospitalisations stand at 459 patients in the Alicante area with 76 people in ICUs.

Three weeks ago under 150 people were in local hospitals being treated for COVID-19.

Unions have voiced their concerns that places like Alicante General Hospital are getting close to being full with some facilities deciding to suspend routine operations.

12 new outbreaks have been reported in Alicante Province with Orihuela having eight new infections in two outbreaks.

The Valencian Government is expected to announce further new measures to combat the spread of the coronavirus this Thursday(November 5).
