A LIGHT aircraft made an emergency landing on a Castellon de la Plana motorway on Friday and was hit by a lorry.
The incident happened shortly after 12pm on the CS-22 which is normally busy with vehicles entering and exiting the eastern city’s port.
The German-flagged plane ran out of fuel en route to a flying club and the pilot, described as English-speaking, took it down onto the highway.

The landing went well, but a lorry was unable to avoid the aircraft and crashed into it.
Motorists stopped to assist the truck driver and pilot, who were then treated by paramedics.
Both were relatively unharmed considering the seriousness of the situation.
The young pilot received a strong blow to his head along with bruising, and was taken to Castellon General Hospital.
The Guardia Civil, Policia Nacional, and the Policia Local cleared one of the carriageways as quickly as possible to reopen the motorway.
