THE Catalan regional police made a bizarre discovery on Sunday, when they found the body of a man in a small bay on the Costa Brava surrounded by headless chickens.

The Mossos d’Esquadra, as the force is called, said that there were no signs of criminal activity at the scene, which was in the municipality of Palamos in the province of Girona.

The Mossos made the discovery in a bay on the Costa Brava in Girona province.

The officers were on Sunday investigating the exact cause of death of the man, who showed no signs of violence, according to a report from news agency Europa Press.

Police sources said, however, that the man’s young age was not compatible with a natural death either.

The headless chickens suggested that some kind of ritual was being carried out, but for now the police said that they did not know how they were linked to the death of the man.

According to Europa Press it was the man’s partner who raised the alarm with the Mossos, staying with the body until officers arrived.
