Police in Spain rescue baby trapped in car amid 40C temperatures

Police in Alicante area rescue 'sweating' baby trapped in car with 40C temperatures outside

POLICE in Elda forced open a car with an 11-month-old baby trapped inside as temperatures reached 40C outside the vehicle.

It was a mother’s nightmare on Wednesday at around 6pm which she got out of her car and the automatic locking system was activated.

She was unable to open the doors and was understandably in a distressed state.

The woman called emergency services with an Elda Policia Local patrol despatched to Avenida Ronda, along with the fire brigade.

Police officers calmed her down and tried the doors themselves but without any luck.

With temperatures soaring, they saw that the baby was very hot and sweating profusely.

They decided they could not wait for the fire crew and decided to act immediately.

The officers smashed a side window well away from the baby and were able to access the door lock from the outside.

The child was unharmed and handed over into the grateful arms of its mother.

It’s not the first kind of car rescue that the Elda Policia Local have been involved with in recent years.

In June 2021, they saved two brothers aged 2 and 4 who were trapped inside a car after the activation of the automatic lock system.
