Fast-track approval granted for massive €60 million sports and music stadium complex in Alicante

PLANS for a massive €60 million sports and leisure complex in Alicante have received a massive boost with the regional Valencian government classifying it as a PLA(Project of Regional Interest).

The decision will speed-up bureaucratic processes for what will be called Alicante Park.

It will be built in the city’s Rabasa district on 100,000 m2 of land that was bought earlier this year for €2.6 million by the soccer club, CF Intercity.

Club chairman, Salvador Marti, recently said: “We are building a key infrastructure that will contribute to the economic and social development of Alicante.”

The club stressed the importance of getting a PLA which will fast-track the project.

The Ministry of the Environment, Infrastructure and Territory will require Intercity to provide a provisional guarantee to support the viability of their plans.

The development’s cornerstone will be a stadium for CF Intercity which- according to the club- will also attract major sporting, cultural and musical events, including large-format concerts.

It says it will place Alicante into a position that could host national and international shows.

NIGHT-VIEW IMPRESSION, ALICANTE PARK

The stadium will be able to accommodate over 30,000 people for a concert while there will be a minimum 10,000 seat capacity for football matches, with an option to increase if required.

Alicante Park will have areas for events, restaurants and activities related to sport and leisure, all operating throughout the year.

The complex will create over 200 direct jobs when it is operational.

A by-product will be revitalising the Rabasa area to make it a major economic hub in Alicante, just a few minutes drive from the city centre and Alicante-Elche airport.

No potential start or finish dates have been declared for the project
