FREE dispensers containing factor 50 sunscreen have been installed on Los Alcazares beaches along the Mar Menor coast.
The project comes from the local council and has been called ‘Enjoy the sun responsibly’.
The initiative follows the concept started on several beaches in Galicia last summer, with Los Alcazares blazing the trail in the Murcia region.

Los Alcazares mayor, Mario Perez Cevera, said: “Thanks to the dispensers, there will be around 70,000 people on our beaches during the summer season who will benefit.”
The dispensers were installed last week at a cost of just over €1,000.
Each unit has a 10-litre capacity which normally lasts a week and will be refilled by the lifeguard team.
Head of Beaches, David Garrido, said: “People are very grateful for the dispensers and now bathers are always looking out for them.”
“Any protection against the sun like cream is very necessary as 30 minutes of exposure without being covered will cause burning.”
The complementary sunscreen dispensers are set to be extended to outdoor shopping areas within Los Alcazares and mayor, Perez Cevera, has more plans for next year.
“We will continue to add new measures to offer bathers more protection against the heat,“ he promised.
“We will create climate emergency zones, generating comfortable spaces with shade, hydration and protection.”
