A BRITISH tourist died five days after taking drugs before his flight to Alicante-Elche airport in February 2025.

The cause was given as hypoxic ischaemic encephalopathy- a serious brain injury caused by a lack of oxygen- which was prompted by a narcotic overdose.

Mr. Jones had a history of taking drugs, according to the inquest.

After landing at Alicante-Elche airport on February 22, 2025, he suffered a rapid deterioration in his health and was admitted to Villajoyosa’s Marina Baixa Hospital.

His condition worsened and he passed away five days later.
