A BRITISH tourist died five days after taking drugs before his flight to Alicante-Elche airport in February 2025.
An inquest ruled that Paul Williams Jones, 36, from the Rhondda in South Wales took ‘illicit substances’ before his journey.
Wales Online reported that the Pontypridd coroner, Rachel Knight, ruled that Mr. Jones suffered a drug-related death.

The cause was given as hypoxic ischaemic encephalopathy- a serious brain injury caused by a lack of oxygen- which was prompted by a narcotic overdose.
Mr. Jones had a history of taking drugs, according to the inquest.
After landing at Alicante-Elche airport on February 22, 2025, he suffered a rapid deterioration in his health and was admitted to Villajoyosa’s Marina Baixa Hospital.
His condition worsened and he passed away five days later.

The inquest stated that there were no indications that Mr. Jones had intended to take his own life.
It was not reported whether he had travelled to the Costa Blanca with family or friends.
