Mystery after British tourist, 26, found dead in Mallorca apartment with ‘glass shards from door stuck in head’

A BRITISH tourist has been found dead in a rented apartment in Mallorca in mysterious circumstances.

Authorities discovered the 26-year-old man on Wednesday morning in a property in the village of Santa Margalida, in the northern part of the island.

Shards of glass, reportedly from a door, were found embedded in his head.

Emergency services received an alert at 7.30am and rushed to the apartment on Calle Luna 7 in Santa Margalida, where they found the victim dead at the scene.

The incident took place in Santa Margalida, located in the northern part of the island. 

Officers from the local Santa Margalida police were the first to arrive and took statements from six witnesses who were inside the property – four men and two women.

The group had allegedly consumed large amounts of drugs and alcohol after a night out.

Witnesses reportedly told officers they had returned to the apartment to continue partying.

They claimed the victim was in an agitated state after taking narcotics.

Early indications suggest the man may have sustained fatal injuries after striking his head against a glass door.

Authorities have stressed that the exact circumstances remain unclear.

The Judicial Police unit of the Guardia Civil in Pollensa took over the investigation to determine what happened in the moments leading up to the death.

A post-mortem examination will provide key answers about the cause of death.
