Dangerous ‘psychopath’ sex offender legally changes gender to ‘dodge’ prison sentence in Spain

A ‘highly dangerous psychopath’ who changed gender to dodge justice was arrested in Spain after a sprawling manhunt, police said.

The accused sex offender posed as a police officer to terrorise victims into submission, while torching homes and cars to assert control and revenge.

Investigators say the suspect also secretly filmed sex acts before distributing the footage without consent.

Spanish police launched a major investigation in April after receiving more than 40 complaints from separate victims.

Officers finally swooped on a chalet hideout in the town of Montalbo, east of Madrid, on Thursday morning.

Authorities said the fugitive was already facing imprisonment on sexual assault charges but vanished before a court hearing, ditching a court-ordered electronic tracking device intended to protect victims.

Police believe the suspect legally changed gender after going on the run in an attempt to evade capture.

Investigators also said the suspect psychologically manipulated victims into carrying out crimes against third parties with whom there were longstanding personal grudges.
