WATCH: Brutal aftermath as 19-year-old driver wipes out group of cyclists near Madrid – with one seriously injured

SEVEN cyclists were injured near Madrid after a 19-year-old driver smashed into a group ride on a popular cycling route near Madrid, leaving one victim seriously injured.

The group, all men between the ages of 25 and 50, were riding along the M-600 near Brunete on May 17 when a teenage driver slammed into them.

Emergency services were called to the scene at 9.30am where all seven riders were treated for their injuries. 

One of the cyclists was left fighting for his life after suffering a serious head injury and was airlifted to Puerta de Hierro Hospital in critical condition.

The remaining six have also been transferred to hospitals throughout the Comunidad de Madrid and treated for various injuries including bone fractures.

The teen driver, meanwhile, suffered a panic attack at the scene and was treated by emergency services. 

Guardia Civil officers are investigating the circumstances which led to the collision.
