A 20-YEAR-OLD British swimming instructor died after falling from a balcony while on holiday in Tenerife, an inquest has heard.

Harrison Hanley was staying at the Parque Santiago 2 resort in Playa de las Americas when the tragedy happened, according to The Sun.

Spanish authorities confirmed the cause of death was traumatic shock caused by a fall.

Harrison, 20, died after falling from a balcony while on holiday.

An investigation was opened following the incident, but officials later ruled out any criminal involvement. 

According to the inquest in Liverpool, Harrison fell from an interior balcony inside the hotel complex.

A maintenance worker later discovered his body.

The coroner told the hearing that Harrison died instantly from his injuries and said there was nothing to suggest the death was anything other than a tragic accident.

The news has caused great sadness in both the UK and Tenerife. Friends and former teachers remembered Harrison as a cheerful and energetic young man who made a lasting impression on everyone he met. 

In Liverpool, he was especially well known for his work as a swimming instructor, with many parents praising the way he worked with children.

One mother wrote online that her son was devastated after learning of Harrison’s death, describing him as ‘fantastic with all the little ones’.

His former school, St Sebastian’s Catholic Primary School, paid tribute to his ‘infectious personality’, saying he could ‘light up every room he entered’.

He loved challenges, he loved to laugh, and he had a smile that could make others smile too, the school added.

The school opened a book of condolences and organised a balloon release in his memory.

St Hilda’s High School also honoured Harrison, describing him as ‘everyone’s favourite friendly and mischievous boy’.

Teachers and classmates said he ‘loved life and people’ and remembered him as ‘an incredible athlete, but an even better person’.

A fundraising campaign launched to support his family raised thousands of pounds within days, with a close friend, who launched the campaign, calling Harrison ‘the greatest personality anywhere’.
