The confrontation led to the 37-year-old victim falling to the ground who then lost consciousness.

Emergency services tried to revive him without success.

The alleged aggressor was interviewed and then arrested by the Policia Nacional.

The La Opinion de Tenerife newspaper said the brawl started after the 37-year-old Brit threw a glass at the younger man for reasons unknown.

Numerous people witnessed what happened with door staff intervening before calling the police and paramedics.

La Opinion also reported that the victim was kicked in the head while he lay on the ground.

All nightlife premises in Las Veronicas were shut down to allow police and emergency staff to do their work without hindrance.
