A nurse at the emergency centre gave assistance via a phone to the pool lifeguard.
It was confirmed that the girl had suffered a cardiorespiratory arrest and instructions were given over appropriate resuscitation manouevres.
Two ambulances were sent to the hotel and a helicopter was also deployed, in addition to Guardia Civil and Policia Local officers.
Medics took over from the lifeguard in trying to resuscitate the girl, but without success.
The Guardia are leading inquiries to investigate the circumstances behind the child’s death- something that is standard practice after such an incident.
