England to train on Costa del Sol

ENGLAND will bid to end their terrible record in major tournaments by spending a week on the Costa del Sol ahead of Euro 2012.

Manager Fabio Capello and his squad will begin preparations for the competition by spending five or six days at the exclusive Marbella Paradise of Football & Sports complex in La Quinta from May 21.

The complex has proved a popular training camp in the past for Premier League teams including Aston Villa, Everton and Newcastle.

“We need to find a warm place where we can work as a group and there are no problems for training,” said Capello.

“It’s very nice. Now we just need to decide when we will go to Marbella before we leave to go to Poland and Ukraine for the tournament.

“But I want us to stay as a group for that period. I hope there will be more time to rest, and I hope the players all have time to recover their energies.”

England have been drawn to face France, Sweden and Ukraine in the group stage next summer, and could face World and European champions Spain in the quarter finals.

  1. good idea last time that happend was april 2008 when portsmouth trained there with aston villa and dynamo kiev ….and we(pompey) went on and won the cup!!!! mind you harry redknapp gotta get his court case on jan 23 rd out of the way for england to then dump fabio and let an englishman manage the national team

  2. It won’t make any difference – bad diet, going nightclubbing till all hours in the season and grossly overpaid. Most English footballers would have difficulty holding down a job pushing a broom, that’s why UK football is full of foreigners.

I cannot understand why most UK fathers don’t encourage their sons to get serious about football, think about it – star players earn £100/150K per week and that’s without all the advertising revenue and you get to have a pension at 35 – better even than the bankers.

Why is it that in general UK f/ballers have no speed, no agility, no ball control and a total inability to move from defence to attack with speed – you can see how slow their mental processes are.

Spending time in Spain – where will that be in the nightclubs getting drunk and starting fights.
