MANOLO ESCOBAR, one of Spain’s most famous artists, has died of cancer at the age of 82.

The singer, who had colon cancer, passed away in a Benidorm clinic on the evening of October 24.

The Almerian artist, best known in Spain for his love songs, had announced his retirement from the entertainment industry last November.

Manolo Escobar became a national idol in 1963, when he starred in his first film, “Los Guerrilleros”. His career continued for over 50 years.
