Caught with his pants down

HE had been wanted for weeks for writing obscene graffiti over the key historical monuments of El Puerto de Santa Maria.

So it was fitting that the vandal was literally caught with his pants down.

The Olive Press was on the scene when the Spanish man in his 30s was in the process of sprawling obscenities over a historic fountain on the dock-side of the Cadiz town.

After seizing his spray can and searching him, the police officers did what most vandals deserve: They pulled his trousers down to search his underwear.

At the same moment a motorbike patrol also happened to be passing and the two policemen quickly jumped off their bikes to apprehend the man.

It has emerged that the Mayor of El Puerto Enrique Moresco had already announced that he would do anything in his power to stop the graffiti.

The man, who was said to be suffering from mental illness, had already written all over the Church of las Esclavas and the Convent of Espiritu Santo.

After seizing his spray can and searching him, the police officers did what most vandals deserve: They pulled his trousers down to search his underwear.

And the Olive Press was there to get the picture.
