When green doesn’t mean go in Spain

THEY are the bain of every motorist… but at least they are eco-friendly.

A new breed of speed cameras has been equipped with a small windmill and several
solar panels.

The new design, launched in Catalonia, should generate enough electricity to catch out
motorists without using electricity from the grid.

So far, two prototypes have been installed in Lleida and Tarragona but another 30 are in
the pipeline.
