SPANISH architect Santiago Calatrava is being sued by Venice City Council.

The city says it has had to fork out €464,000 to repair construction defects on the Ponte della Costituzione, which was planned by the architect.

The council is also demanding an additional €4 million to cover extra costs not included in the design.

The bridge – which crosses the Grand Canal – has been unpopular with residents since it first opened in November 2008.

  1. There must be something in the air as my Chilean wife went back home for Christmas and told of a similar story which was in the news while she was there. In this case it seem that it was a Spanish construction company that made the mistake that will cost them millions to fix
