THE Romanian man who fled the UK to Spain with a 15-year-old schoolgirl has been arrested at an airport in Spain.
Ionut Gheorghe, 27, was picked up by Spanish police in Los Molinos, near Madrid, on Friday.
A European Arrest Warrant had been issued for him after it was suspected he was with a schoolgirl that had gone missing from her home.
The hunt for Ionut began when the girl disappeared from her home just hours after he had been spotted withdrawing £250 from a cash machine in Enfield in London.
The girl was found safe and well with Ionut.
Extradition proceedings have begun.
