POLICE SCENE: A man takes pictures of the spot where the woman died after she was allegedly gunned down by her son

A MAN has been arrested after allegedly murdering his mum with a shotgun as she jumped in front of his sister.

Police believe the 50-year-old Spanish suspect, known as Antoñin killed the woman, 81, with two shots to the abdomen.

The brutal incident took place at around 1:00 pm yesterday outside the home the pair shared in Malaga’s Puerto de la Torre neighbourhood.

Neighbours said the victim, ‘Pepi’ had ‘family problems’ with her eldest of three children and had spoken to him on the phone the day before.

ARREST: Police arrested a man yesterday and have now launched an investigation into the death

Antoñin was apparently arguing with his sister and had stopped taking his medicine for his schizophrenia before the attack.

His brother is believed to have previously been told by their mother that she was ‘very scared’ of her eldest child.

However when he suggested she denounce Antoñin to the police she’d refused, ‘because he was her son and because of the fear she had that he could kill her one night’.

At age 14 the man is believed to have obtained a weapons license and had several firearms in the house.

A Policia Nacional investigation has been launched and an autopsy is planned for today.
