HOSPITAL de Torrevieja has deactivated its quarantine procedure after an Icelandic tourist fell ill with suspected symptoms of coronavirus.

The 66-year-old had recently visited Wuhan, where the viral contagion is believed to have originated, before arriving in Torrevieja for a holiday and suffering a fever.

Hospital sources however have now said the patient’s symptoms ‘do not corroborate with epidemiological criteria’ to be considered coronavirus.

Doctors said the case was ‘100%’ ruled out.

The patient, turned herself in with her 52-year-old husband yesterday, will be treated for respiratory illness and moved out of quarantine.
