Masked attacker stabs 11-year-old boy to death in Spain after storming football pitch: Manhunt is still underway

A MASKED attacker has stabbed an 11-year-old boy to death after storming a children’s football match.

The terrifying incident occurred this morning at the Angel Tardio sports centre in Mocejon, Toledo.

At around 9.45am, a person wearing a hood and a face covering ran onto the football pitch with a bladed weapon, according to the ABC newspaper.

He charged at a group of people who ran towards the children, who were playing a football match.

One young boy fell over by the stands during the commotion and was fatally stabbed

The assailant fled the scene in grey Ford Mondeo before paramedics and Guardia Civil arrived.

A manhunt is underway the capture the attacker, involving at least a dozen Guardia Civil patrol units.

Health workers tried to revive the boy after he went into cardiac arrest, but he died at the scene.

Local residents claimed that the field was closed and that the children had sneaked in through a broken fence to gain access. The minor’s killer had sneaked in through the same place.

Conchi Cedillo, the mayor of Mocejon, has travelled to the scene of the events, which have left the town in shock.

The sports centre has a security camera and the municipality has several at the entrances and exits with a licence plate reader that is expected to help track the killer down.

The president of Castilla-La Mancha, Emiliano Garcia-Page, said he was ‘shocked’ by the incident and expressed his condolences to the family.

“I also hope that the perpetrator of the crime will be found soon and brought to justice as soon as possible. These situations are unacceptable and must result in a just punishment,” he added
