A MAN has attempted to snatch a 5-year-old girl while her parents were not looking in a busy Costa del Sol market.
The 45-year-old Finnish man was noticed by market stall owners and those passing by at this Sunday’s Fuengirola market as trying to ‘take away a child’.
The young girl was with her father who works at the market when relatives realised that a man was trying to take her, according to Europa Press.
Alerts were made to municipal agents who always patrol the market and market vendors restrained the suspect until the Policia Local arrived and arrested him.
“He has already been arrested by the Policia Local and thanks to the market traders officials were told and intercepted quickly,” said Fuengirols Se Queja on social media.
Occurring at around midday it was the quick and collaborative action of citizens that allowed the suspect to be arrested – now this alleged attempted kidnapper has given his disposition ot the Policia Nacional who will carry out corresponding investigations, according to the Fuengirola Ayuntamiento.
The Ayuntamiento has also clarified that the child is fine, stating that ‘nothing happened thanks to everyone’s quick interception’.
