A MAN, 25, was shot dead in a Torrevieja street on Saturday night.
Gunshots were heard by residents at around 10.30pm on Calle Bergantin in the city’s Playa del Cura area.

The Informacion newspaper said that the victim suffered two bullet wounds to his shoulder and arm pit.
Paramedics were unable to save his life.
The bullets had been fired by a man on a motorcycle towards the entrance hall of an apartment building.
Windows, walls, and building grilles had bullet holes in them.
The deceased victim lived with four other people, who have been questioned by the Guardia Civil.

There have been a series of disputes between Algerian men culminating in Saturday’s incident.
The victim allegedly led an attack a month earlier against a rival group involving firearms.
An autopsy is expected to be carried on Monday to officially determine the cause of death.
It’s the latest fatal street shooting in Torrevieja following the killing of Czech national, Michael Maly in the Rocio del Mar area on March 1.
The 33-year-old had been on bail since January 2025 over his involvement in the murder of John George whose body was found dumped in the Rojales area.
A British suspect was arrested over Maly’s death.
Last year a Turkish mobster was shot dead in a drive-by shooting in the heart of the city on Calle Pedro Lorca.
His death was linked to a feud between rival Turkish gangs.
There have also been shootings towards the end of 2025 involving British nationals on the Orihuela Costa.
On Sunday, with no reference to the latest killing, Torrevieja mayor, Eduardo Dolon, repeated a demand via social media for extra Guardia Civil officers to be based at the city’s barracks.
