British tourist, 38, dies after plunging 120 metres off cliff at famous Basque beauty spot in northern Spain

A BRITISH tourist died on Saturday after falling from Mount Urgull in the Basque Country’s San Sebastian area.

The Basque government’s security department said the 38-year-old man fell around 120 metres from the Baluarte del Mirado towards the Paseo Nuevo.

Police are investigating the incident which happened from a viewpoint with railings and a Basque region flag.

It has not been revealed whether the Brit was visiting the popular beauty spot with anyone else and his name has not been disclosed

Emergency services received a call at around 11am about the discovery of a body in the vicinity of the Paseo Neuvo.

Paramedics, firefighters, and the police were scrambled to the area but could do nothing to help the victim.

The body has been transferred to the Basque Institute of Legal Medicine for an autopsy.
