Brit, 37, dies in late night brawl in Tenerife’s UK tourism hotspot – another Brit arrested

A TOURIST from the UK was killed in a street fight with another Brit in Tenerife’s wild nightlife scene of Playa de las Americas.

An argument between two Brits outside a Las Veronicas bar ended with the death of one and the arrest of the other.

Police reported that the violent incident occurred after two tourists began arguing in Playa de las Americas early Thursday morning.

One of the British nationals, a 37-year-old, was said to have thrown a glass at the other.

Then the other Englishman, a 23-year-old, attacked the first aggressor back by punching him.

The physical impact of the blow caused the 37-year-old victim to go unconscious.

Although emergency medical responders came to the scene, they were unable to revive him.

The 37-year-old UK vacationer was pronounced dead by paramedics.

Spain’s Policia Nacional arrested the 23-year-old, who is being detained while authorities investigate the situation further.

Despite Tenerife venue owners trying to clean up the nightlife area by banning the street sales of balloons and gas canisters, and targeting drug dealers, some are saying the most recent bout of violence is another example of the lack of safety in the Veronicas.

Las Veronicas is considered one of the more controversial areas of Tenerife, with visitors often torn between loving or regretting a trip there.

Some claim it is a great spot for a weekend given the inexpensive drinks and lively nightlife scene.

Others advise avoiding the area altogether, claiming it can feel overwhelming and chaotic late at night.

Tenerife travel pages warn against pickpockets, and visitors have shared experiences of feeling unsafe and getting spiked while at Veronica’s Strip on the Tenerife Tourist Forum.

Despite the mixed reviews, Brits continue to make up a huge portion of the holidaymakers in Tenerife.

The Canary Island’s demographic of vacationers are made up of around 46% Brits.
