12 PEOPLE have been arrested for selling fake goods at the weekly Torrecremada Park street market in Denia.
The Policia Nacional and Denia’s Policia Local seized 2,277 counterfeit items that were up for sale.
The main focus was on fake football shirts of national and club sides with sellers looking for a pre-World Cup boost.

The police received information that fake branded goods were being extensively peddled.
Plain-clothed officers posing as customers went to several market stalls along the park’s esplanade to confirm the reports.
They discovered bargain prices for well-known branded counterfeit products- something typical if fake items are being sold.
After further discreet inquiries, a full-blown operation was launched on Monday, with police carrying out raids, accompanied by an expert who could confirm if goods were fakes.

12 inspections were executed at different stalls with counterfeit clothing and accessories being discovered.
Besides football shirts, there were branded caps, bags, and scarves on sale.
The dozen detainees will now appear in court to face charges of committing crimes against industrial property.
