THOUSANDS of British tourists are expected to visit Almeria’s coastline this summer after the local council launched a new promotion campaign alongside Jet2.
Under a deal signed with Almeria town hall, the British airline will bring at least 35,000 UK tourists on direct flights, each staying five nights minimum and taking organised excursions beyond their base town across the province.
The city’s councillor for tourism, Maria Jose Herrada, said the ‘Costa de Almeria’ agreement will further strengthen ties between Almeria and the UK – the largest source of international tourists in the province.
“This year marks the internationalisation of our destination and a renewed focus on strengthening air connectivity,” Herrada said.
Six of the UK’s largest cities already have direct connections to Almeria, including four airports in London, Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol, Leeds Bradford and Liverpool.
Authorities have said local businesses were hiring extra English-speaking staff to accommodate the expected influx of British travellers, which is pacing 12% ahead of last year’s figures.
Local authorities say they also want to attract more visitors from Italy and Romania, establishing connections with two strategic European cities – Rome and Bucharest.

These add to the existing international connections with Belgium, Poland, Czech Republic, Portugal, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Slovakia and Hungary.
Along with seven national destinations, Almeria offers this summer a total of 25 direct flight connections that locals hope will bring in more tourists.
Herrada stressed the local airport ‘is the fastest-growing in the country, with a 20% increase during summer, reinforcing the growth experienced in the winter 2025-2026 season’.
