RYANAIR is considering a €500 million investment in Sevilla that could create hundreds of jobs across the city, the airline has announced.
Speaking on Thursday, Ryanair CEO Eddie Wilson said the airline had narrowed the location for its new European engine repair centre to either Sevilla or Poland, with a final decision expected before the end of the year.
If approved, construction would begin in early 2027, creating around 600 permanent jobs as well as a further 400 construction roles.
The facility would be built on land near the Port of Seville and would serve as a specialised maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) centre, carrying out comprehensive technical work on aircraft engines.
Ryanair already has a significant presence in Sevilla. In 2021, it expanded its maintenance hangar, increasing capacity to accommodate up to five aircraft.
The city is also home to one of the airline’s ground operations centres, which oversees aircraft handling and airport logistics.
The announcement follows Ryanair’s opening of a new maintenance centre in Madrid in March. The 22,000-square-metre hangar can accommodate up to seven aircraft and represented a €25 million investment, creating around 700 jobs.
