SOME of the world’s best players, including two world champions and stars from Brazil and Japan, competed in Gibraltar’s first Backgammon Festival.
In the final of the hugely successful event which attracted novices as well as champions, Tilman Sohnchen of Germany beat Alain Babillon of France.
In the Novice Group final Gibraltarian Tiny Moreno beat Mario Fabbri.
Also during the festival Gibraltar’s Minister for Education Gilbert Licudi, a keen enthusiast , took the opportunity to pit his wits against world Number One Masayuki Mochizuki.
