Blind crew sails around Spain

A GROUP of blind sailors and crew members are making their way along Spain’s coast.

Lead by 59-year-old Pole Alina Koralewska, a team of 30 blind or visually impaired sailors set sail from Alicante port.

The crew will visit Ibiza and Mallorca on a six day tour before anchoring in Barcelona.

Event organiser Maciej Sodkiewicz said: “Blind people are often withdrawn. Here they open up to others, they feel part of a group.”

Joining the team are professional sailors to help assist the voyage.
