A FIREMAN has converted a burnt out forest in Spain into a tree cemetery.firefighter

The work of art in Barcelona was inspired by the forest fire that broke out in July 2015.

Firefighter turned artist Marc Sellares combated the flames, but not before it destroyed 1,293 hectares of trees in the Anoia area of the northern city.

Other than a few hours help from a friend, Sellares completed the work by himself, describing it as an ‘act of mourning’.

He hopes it will reinforce the message that people need to take extra care in the summer to avoid creating similar incidents in the future.
