All-you-can-eat sushi restaurant in Sevilla to charge a ‘vomit fee’ to customers who eat until they ‘burst’

AN all-you-can-eat sushi restaurant in Sevilla has announced that it will now be charging a ‘vomit fee’ to its diners who eat until they ‘burst’.

Situated in Gelves, Sushi Toro has seen many incidents of vomiting in recent months with customers over ordering and ‘eating until they suffer’ and are eventually sick.

‘Vomit on the tables and in the bathrooms’ has caused issues with service, management and hygiene in the establishment and therefore, in an attempt to get a hold of the situation, the restaurant has announced that it will charge a fee to those who are sick on the premises.

This new charge was revealed on social media with the restaurant posting a message that declared that ‘the only solution’ to the issue is ‘to charge a fee per incident’.

“We work hard to get orders out on time and maintain good hygiene,” the message reads, “ and therefore we ask for collaboration as this is also affecting other clients eating in the restaurant”.

Those dining at Sushi Toro choose the establishment for its fusion of ‘tradition and innovation’ that is highlighted through its varied menu that lists dishes that are created with fresh ingredients and expert techniques.

Its buffet costs between €16.90 and €23.90 depending on the day of the week and the time of day.

Throughout all these time slots the restaurant has said its staff ‘work hard to get orders out on time and maintain good hygiene’.

Hence, it is now charging this extra fee for those who can not recognise their limits and eat in excess.

It recommends that customers ‘order what they can eat’ and apologised for any inconvenience at the end of its social media statement.

Sushi Toro is not the first buffet to apply potential additional charges; many restaurants of this kind have a fee for food that is ordered but uneaten to prevent food waste.

These establishments are allowed to charge these additional fees as long as they are displayed clearly beforehand. A move that Sushi Toro Sevilla has done by placing a sign on its premises that warns of its new policy.
