A POPULAR Dutch estate agent has tragically died after falling through an attic floor during a house viewing in Granada province.
Danielle Gouwens, 55, was letting a bird out of a loft in the Lecrin Valley when the accident occurred on Friday, according to a company statement. She passed away from her injuries on Saturday.
Tributes poured in after the founder of Lecrin-based At Home in Andalucia was laid to rest on Monday in her home village of Restabal.

Ivonne Cabrera, who manages a local Facebook group for expats, said: “Through her work, Danielle helped many people not only find a house, but truly feel at home in Andalucia.
“Her warmth, professionalism and connection to the valley left a lasting impact on many residents – both local and international.
“Our heartfelt condolences go to her family, friends, colleagues and everyone whose life she touched.”

Gouwens’ company, set up in 2006, specialised in guiding foreign residents through the process of buying a home in Andalucia, according to reports.
In a 2022 interview with El Comarcal de Lecrin, she recounted having moved to Granada after ‘falling in love at first sight’ with the surrounding nature.
“Danielle was deeply loved by her family, friends, colleagues, and the many clients whose lives she touched over the years,” a company statement said.
“She went above and beyond for every client, and many became lifelong friends.”
