FOUR out of five chiringuitos on the Costa del Sol are illegal, new figures have revealed.

According to the Environment Ministry, only 76 of the 348 beach bars on Malaga’s coastline have their papers in order.

Across Andalucia as a whole, more than 80% of chiringuitos have licences or are in the process of attaining one.

The Junta said it was confident that all chiringuitos would be able to become legal in the future with the majority already applying for licences.
